William L. "Bill" Kilgo, age 78, of Gholson, passed away Friday morning, December 11, 2020 at his residence. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Rev. James Stevens officiating. Military Graveside Rites will follow at Gholson Cemetery, conducted by West Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Very limited capacity, facial masks, and social distancing are required at all services. LIVE STREAM of the service will be provided. Bill was born September 30, 1942 in Walnut Springs, the son of James and Willie (Britton) Kilgo. He was a 1960 graduate of Temple High School. Bill served his country with the United States Army National Guard. On July 24, 1965 he was united in marriage to Karlene Gassaway in Gholson. Bill served his community in many ways including being on the Gholson Volunteer Fire Department, the Gholson School Board, and serving as the City Marshal. He worked for the United States Post Office for 42 years before retiring in 2011. Bill enjoyed fishing, camping and all sports. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys, umpired many baseball games in Gholson and softball games in West. Spending time and spoiling his grandchildren was his greatest passion. Bill is preceded in death by his parents; a son, William Calvin "Billy" Kilgo; a grandson, Calvin Kilgo; his sister, Barbara Hildebrand; and his brother, Norman Kilgo. Survivors include his beloved wife of 55 years, Karlene Kilgo of Gholson; his daughters, Cindy Chase of Robinson and Cheryl Urbanovsky and husband, Colby of West; a daughter-in-law, Terri Kilgo of Gholson; his grandchildren, Rodger Chase Jr. and wife, Dusti, Sierra Horne, Kaison Biles, Corbin Urbanovsky, and Kinley Urbanovsky; great-grandchildren, Marlee, Ayden, Cooper and one on the way; his sister, Judy Burns; a brother-in-law, Gary Hildebrand; his dog, Susie; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Rodger Chase, Colby Urbanovsky, Bryan McCartney, Allen McCartney, Jason McCartney, Todd Binnion and John Schmidt. Honorary pallbearers are Kaison Biles, Ayden Kilgo, Cooper Chase and Corbin Urbanovsky. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gholson Volunteer Fire Department.
