Wanda Irene Cox, age 98, of Elm Mott, passed away early Wednesday morning, November 19, 2025 peacefully at her residence.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Chaplain Nilda Roman officiating. Graveside services will be held 11:15 a.m. Tuesday at Waco Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Wanda was born August 1, 1927 in Aquilla, the daughter of Joe and Letha (Glenn) Lee and a proud member of the Aquilla High School graduating class of 1945. Following her high school years, she furthered her education at a Business College in Dallas, where she cultivated the skills that would lead her to a successful career as an underwriter for Insurers of Texas in Waco. On March 31, 1946, Wanda married the love of her life, Samuel H. Cox, in their hometown of Aquilla. Their marriage was a partnership filled with love and devotion until his passing on February 3, 1983. Wanda found comfort and strength in her faith as a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church in West, where she actively participated in church life. Wanda's passions were many; she enjoyed sewing, cooking, tending to her beautiful yard, and exploring the world through traveling and cruising. She delighted in camping adventures and cherished the joy of playing "42" dominoes, always sharing laughter and love with friends and family. She found endless gratitude in her family, especially during the cherished holiday gatherings that brought them all together.
Wanda is also preceded in death by her parents; her son-in-law, Sonny Bartosh; brothers, Raymond and Jack "J.B." Lee; and sisters, Joleta Davis, Dorothy Penoyer, and Janis Greene.
Survivors include her children, Patricia Norton of Elm Mott, Joe Cox and wife Kathy of Bruceville Eddy, and Betty Bartosh of Elm Mott; her brother-in-law, Jim Greene; her grandchildren, Jennifer Bell and husband Ray, Richard "Ricky" Norton and wife Jennifer, Jeremy Campbell and wife Jennifer, Mandy Jares and husband David, Terri Cox, Travis Cox, and Curtis Cox; 13 great grandchildren; 14 great great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Pallbearers are Ricky Norton, Jeremy Campbell, Dylan Alligood, Ray Bell, David Jares and Alfredo Roman.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of West.
