Tommy Gerik

Thomas "Tommy" Ray Gerik, age 73, of West, passed away Saturday night, June 7, 2025 at Ascension Providence Hospital in Waco.

A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at Aderhold Funeral Home in West, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on June 13, 2025, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in West.

Tommy was born November 18, 1951 in Waco, Texas, the son of Adolph and Carolyn (Hutyra) Gerik. He was a devoted husband, father and "PoPo" to his grandchildren. He was a graduate of St. Mary's School, 1970 graduate of West High School and then later attended McLennan Community College. On June 16, 1973 he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Sara Urbanovsky, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. Tommy was a member of Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree Council #2305. He worked for Oak Farms Dairy (Pure Milk Dairy) as Route Manager for over 40 years. After retirement, he worked for West Gas Service. Tommy enjoyed a lifelong passion for the outdoors including activities in fishing, hunting, washer pitching, waterskiing, camping and spending time at the lake, beach and deer lease. His dedication to fishing is highlighted by his membership as one of the oldest members of the West Bass Club. Tommy had many beloved nicknames such as: Tye, TomCat, Big Kahuna and Tommy Garcia.

Tommy is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ronnie Gerik; and a sister, Barbara Cannon.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Sara of 52 years of West; children, Keith Gerik and wife Karen of China Spring, Kayla Hinojosa and husband Brandon of Chalk Bluff, and Karla Anderson and husband Shane of West; grandchildren Maci Smelscer, Jaxon Anderson, Jeorgia Anderson, Kinsler Hinojosa, and Keaton Hinojosa; a brother, David Gerik; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Active pallbearers are Harry Marak, Derek Scott, Brian Scott, Robert Cannon, Jr., Ernie Gerik, Brady Corn, Greg Jones, Justin Cox, Joe Gerik, Mark Urbanovsky, and David Holecek. Honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren: Maci, Jaxon, Kinsler, Jeorgia, Keaton, the West Bass Club, and the West High School Class of 1970.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Ambulance Association and the West Bass Club.
