Shelia Jean Brown, age 75, of West, passed away early Sunday morning, August 9, 2026 at The Atrium in Bellmead.

The family will receive visitors from 10:00 a.m. until noon Friday, August 14, 2026 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West.  Private burial will follow at a later date at Bold Springs Cemetery near West.

Shelia was born November 18, 1950, in Waco, the daughter of Johnnie (Doughty) and Edgar Birdsong Waddell III. A proud graduate of Connally High School in 1968, Shelia pursued further education at 4-C Business College in Waco. On April 14, 1972, Shelia was united in marriage to Travis Brown in Lacy Lakeview, a partnership that blossomed with the love they shared until Travis's passing on May 8, 1998. With a heart devoted to service, Shelia worked for 14 years at the La Vega Independent School District before dedicating over 20 years of her professional life to the administration department at Providence Hospital. Shelia had a zest for life, finding joy in traveling, playing bingo, and caring for her beloved puppies. Above all, she treasured the time spent with her children and grandchildren, who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.

Shelia is also preceded in death by her parents and a step-son, Dwayne Brown.

Survivors include her daughters, Tammie Brown and Melissa Brown; a step-son, T.J. Brown and his wife Sue; her grandchildren, Nathan Rainey and wife Katie, MaKayla Parker and husband Caleb, Jamielyn Rainey, Christian Svrcek, Kaydian Brown, Nicole Murphy and husband Mike , and Jennifer Brown; great grandchildren, Lexa Murphy, Connor Murphy, Dameon Williams, Dwayne Graham; brothers, J.B. Waddell, and Gregg Waddell and his wife Carol; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Volunteer Ambulance Association.
