Roy Monthie, Jr.

Roy Henry Monthie Jr., age 51, of Elm Mott, passed away Wednesday morning, August 6, 2025 at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Hospital in Waco.

A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 15, 2025 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Rev. James Stevens officiating.

Roy was born on June 4, 1974, in Waco, to Roy and Janet (Hendrix) Monthie. His life was marked by his love for family, the great outdoors, and the simple pleasures that life had to offer. Roy graduated from LaVega High School and attended Texas State Technical College. He worked as a Machine Operator at Huck International Fasteners and Carlton Manufacturing where he took great pride in the quality of his work. An avid outdoorsman, Roy found joy in dove and deer hunting, fishing from his kayak, and camping under the stars. He had a particular fondness for farm animals and loved to cheer on his favorite NASCAR drivers. Through all his adventures, Roy was never without his loyal companion, his cherished dog, Abigail. Beyond all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. He was especially close to his cousins, and he will dearly be missed.

Roy is preceded in death by his mother, Janet Monthie; his grandparents, Olin and Wilma Monthie and James and Frankie Hendrix; and his uncle, Louis Driver.

Survivors include his father, Roy Monthie; his sister, Angela Carlton and husband William "Dub"; nephews, William "Trey" Carlton and wife Amanda, and Tylan Carlton and wife Kinsee; nieces, Andelynn Carlton and Abrianna Carlton; and many other relatives and friends.

Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Hendrix, Joey Casey, Mark Monthie, Shaun Monthie, Brandon Cade, and Kyle Hendrix.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Volunteer Ambulance Association.
