Roy Gene Buckingham, age 79, of Elm Mott, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at his home.
A Graveside Service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 26, 2025 at Oak Grove Cemetery near Walnut Springs. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West.
Born on March 6, 1946, in Meridian, Texas, Gene was the son of Charles and Margie (Ridings) Buckingham. He exemplified integrity and strength throughout his life, dedicated to his craft as a skilled machinist with Waco Tool and Die. On December 20, 1986, Gene united in marriage with Annie Smith in Waco. Their love story, though marked by the loss of Annie on December 16, 2020, flourished in the years they shared together. Gene was a man of many passions, finding joy in helping others, dancing, and being an avid fan of western films. Above all, he cherished the moments spent with his family and friends, who brought him great joy and fulfillment.
Gene is also preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Charlie Buckingham.
Survivors include his children, John Buckingham and wife Pamela of Red Oak, Brad Buckingham of Valley Mills, Larry Schrum and wife Judy of Elm Mott, and Tracy Vela and husband Gilbert of Waco; grandchildren, Desiree Buckingham-Ramirez, Shaun Buckingham, Brad Buckingham Jr., Ashley Holloway, Sarah Ramirez, Stephanie Vela, Christine Denton, and Larry Shrum Jr.; many great-grandchildren; sisters, Connie Malott and Sue Buckingham; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Honorary Pallbearers are his grandchildren.
