Robert "Bob" Joe Ernst

Robert "Bob" Joe Ernst, age 82, of Denton passed away peacefully on Sunday October 11, 2026 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Bob was born on June 23, 1944 in West, Texas to Charlie and Emma (Kotwig) Ernst. After graduating from West High School in 1962, he answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Navy in 1966. He proudly served during the Vietnam war and was stationed aboard the USS Coral Sea from 1969-1970. After honorable discharge, Bob continued his education, earning an Associate's degree from Texas State Technical College in Waco, Texas.

On April 12,1986, Bob married Tracy Reed Mackey in Lewisville, Texas, beginning a loving partnership that would span 4 decades. Throughout his career, Bob traveled extensively for work as a Hardware Instructor for ADP and Sun Microsystems. His work took him to many places and he and Tracy also cherished the opportunity to travel together, creating lasting memories along the way. In addition, they enjoyed working side by side delivering cars for James Wood Auto Park.

Bob found joy in life's simple pleasures, especially those shared with the people he loved. Music was a lifelong passion and he enjoyed playing drums with his friends and family. He also had a genuine appreciation for photography, capturing meaningful moments, beautiful scenery and the people and places that made his life special. And, he loved attending drag races and taking his 1999 Camaro SS out for a drive.

Above all, Bob treasured his family, especially his grandchildren, who brought him measurable joy. He had a gift for making people feel welcome and he never met a stranger. His warm personality, generous spirit and genuine love for others left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. Bob will be deeply missed by all who loved him, but the memories he created and the love he shared will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Bob was proceeded in death by his parents and his daughter, Carol Kriewald.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife, Tracy Ernst of Denton; his children, Shannon Mackey Stenzel and Brandy Ernst Hathaway and husband Joshua; his grandchildren, Amanda Tucker, Jessica Stenzel, Matthew Stenzel, and Kaitlyn Stenzel; his great-grandchildren, Grayson Stenzel and Chloe Stenzel; son-in-law, Larry Kriewald; his sister, Bette Cacho; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service with military honors beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Aderhold Funeral Home in West, Texas with Dr. John Crowder officiating.
