Patsy was born on July 20, 1946, in Waco, the cherished daughter of John and Albina (Vybiral) Pibil. She grew up in Abbott, where she graduated from Abbott High School in 1965. On August 28, 1970, Patsy married the love of her life, Edward "Jimmy" Makovy Jr., and together they built a life rooted in love and companionship until Jimmy's passing on July 12, 2023. A lifelong member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Patsy's faith was as steadfast as her warm spirit. Professionally, she served as a bookkeeper for the Hill County Tax Office. Her career was previously in the retail world, where she worked at Kress's Department Store and Lintz Department Store, both in Hillsboro. Patsy found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved playing bingo and visiting the casinos, where she could often be found trying her luck or sharing laughter with friends. A passionate crafter, she created beautiful floral arrangements and showcased her handmade crafts at her annual Westfest booth. Additionally, her heart was warmed by the love of her pets, as she adored taking care of her dogs and cats. Family gatherings, filled with laughter and love, were the highlights of her life.
Patsy is also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Linda Pibil; and cousins, Jimmy Slovak and Mark Pibil.
Survivors include her sister, Shirley Blanchard and fiance Jerry Dunn; cousins, Beverly Pustejovsky and husband Tony, and Lisa Mynar and husband Joe; a sister-in-law, Donna Hawkins and husband Jack; a special friend, Marilyn Hawkins and husband Kenneth; and many other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hill County Paw Pals or the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott.
