Opal Watson

Opal E. Watson, age 89, of China Spring, passed away early Thursday morning, March 2, 2023 at her residence.

Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Rev. Ken Riley officiating. Burial will follow at Gerald Cemetery near Leroy. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Opal was born August 26, 1933 in Snyder, Texas the daughter of Ernest and Effie (Hurt) Lee.  On May 17, 1956 she was united in marriage to Jerry Watson in Snyder. Jerry preceded her in death on August 4, 2008. Opal attended Calvary Assembly of God Church, Praise Temple, and the First Assembly of God Church, all in Waco, where she enjoyed keeping children in the nursery. She was also a member of the Avion Camping Club. Opal was a bookkeeper for the family Exxon Service Station's in Waco for many years before retiring in 1975. She then helped her husband with his insurance business, Fortune National Marketing, for many years. Opal loved spending time with her family, babysitting her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and attending most family events.

Opal is also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jim Watson; brothers, Melvin, Elton, and J.B. Lee; and sisters, Delphine Hardee and Willie Lee.

Survivors include her daughters, Debbie Duncan of China Spring and Sandy Turnage and husband Ron of Eddy; her grandchildren, Mendy Polizzotti and husband Dave, Monica Salter and husband Jon, Aleisha Ayers, and Trey Duncan; her great grandchildren, Hailey, Hayden, Katie, Danielle, Ella, Marshall, Mason, Emily, Lily Opal, Tony, and Hunter; two brothers, Eschol Lee and wife Helen and Dewayne Lee and wife Letha; a sister, Billie Hernandez; a sister-in-law, Laverne Lee; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are Trey Duncan, Dave Polizzotti, Jon Salter, Hayden Hanson, and Kevin Lee.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
