Nora Michele O'Brien, cherished daughter, beloved niece and cousin, and a vibrant spirit, passed away on July 18, 2026, at the age of 44.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Aderhold Funeral Home in West. The family will receive visitors from 3:00 p.m. until service time.
Born on March 21, 1982, in Teaneck, New Jersey, Nora attended and graduated from Palisades Park High School followed by Bergen Community College. Nora's journey brought her closer to family in Waco, Texas, where she ultimately called home. Blessed with a kind and gentle spirit, Nora had a special love for children that was reflected in her life's work. She served in child care at Greater Waco Church and later as a Child Nutrition Specialist at La Vega Primary School. She also enjoyed caring for children at the Kids Club at the Waco Tennis and Fitness Center while parents exercised. It was there that she developed cherished friendships with members of the Silver Sneakers Group. Nora's laughter and sweet nature made every encounter brighter, and her compassion for others was evident in how she lived. She embraced life with a joyful heart, finding beauty in the simplest moments. She enjoyed reading, sudoku, cooking, baking, traveling, and playing with her younger cousins. She was proud of and loved her family.
Nora was preceded in death by her uncles, John O'Brien and Michael O'Brien; her aunt, Sue O'Brien; and an infant cousin, Kash Delony.
She will be deeply missed by her devoted mother and best friend, Eileen O'Brien; her uncles, Oliver O'Brien and wife Kathy, Patrick O'Brien, and Liam O'Brien; many cousins, including Tammy and Luke Elliott and their children, Trinity and Ethan; Shannon O'Brien and her family, Tionna Dixon-O'Brien and Azayla Dixon; Kristy and James Delony and their daughter, Kinley; Christopher O'Brien; and many other relatives and friends.
As we prepare to bid farewell, let us remember Nora for the light she brought into our lives and the unbreakable bonds she created. Her memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to Animal Birth Control in Waco.
