Nina Jo (Smajstrla) Nors, age 76, of Hillsboro, passed away Sunday evening, June 14, 2026 at her residence.

Graveside Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2026 at St. Mary's Cemetery in West, with Chaplain Thomas Strickland officiating. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West.

Nina Jo was born on September 23, 1949, in Fort Worth, the daughter of Robert and Doris (Rejcek) Smajstrla. She graduated from Burleson High School in 1968 and, on April 25, 1970, was united in marriage to the love of her life, Billy Nors, in Hillsboro. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and community. A faithful member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Hillsboro, Nina Jo was also an active member of KJZT Society #104 in Abbott. Throughout her career, she dedicated herself to serving others, working as Vice President of First Consolidated Bank, store manager of Carter Children's Store in Hillsboro, an employee of Child Protective Services in Hillsboro, and as the proud owner of Nina's Country Crafts. Nina Jo had a creative spirit and a gift for making things beautiful. She enjoyed cross-stitching, crafting, diamond painting, cooking, gardening, and she took great pride in sharing her talents with family and friends. Her home was often filled with warmth, laughter, and the aroma of a favorite meal prepared with love. Above all, Nina Jo treasured her family. She loved gathering with her children and grandchildren, creating cherished memories that will be held close for generations. Her kindness, devotion, and gentle presence touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Nina is preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Eddie Smajstrla.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 56 years, Billy Nors of Hillsboro; her children, William Nors, and Shelly Bailey and husband Andy; her grandchildren, Emily Bailey and Rachel, Hannah Beltran and Caleb, and Noah Nors; a great-grandson, Teo Beltran; brothers, Bobby Smajstrla and wife Kathy, Mark Smajstrla and wife Cindy, and Rick Smajstrla and wife Angie; a sister, Suzanne Janecka and husband Mike; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Pallbearers are Bobby Smajstrla, Mark Smajstrla, Rick Smajstrla, Chris Janecka, Mike Duke, Andy Bailey and Noah Nors.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hill County Paw Pals or Alamo Hospice of Waco.
