Milton Peterson

November 25, 1941 — February 19, 2023

Milton Nelson Peterson, age 81, of Malone, passed away late Sunday evening, February 19, 2023 at Town Hall Estates in Hillsboro.


A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 27, 2023 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.


Milton was born November 25, 1941 in West, the son of Harrison and Mennita (Lander) Peterson. He attended the old Leggott School, West Elementary, and was a 1959 graduate of West High School. On January 19, 1963 he was united in marriage to Irene Soukup in West. Milton was a member of Our Lady Of Mercy Catholic Church in Hillsboro. He was also a member of the Hill County Farm Bureau, KJT Society #109 in Hillsboro, SPJST Lodge #6 in Cottonwood, the Malone Volunteer Fire Department, Hill County Cell Block Museum, USDA Field Enumerator for over 20 years, and a board member for the Brandon and Irene Water Supply District. In 2017 Milton received the Pioneer Award for District 4 of the Texas Farm Bureau. He worked for the General Motors Assembly Plant in Arlington for 30 years, before retiring in 1992. Milton enjoyed playing "42", attending and participating in tractor pulls, farming, having a cold Lone Star Beer, eating Bar-B-Q, going to auction sales, and tending to his cattle. He loved spending time with his family and was known by his nickname "Let's Go".


Milton is preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Haley Lynn Peterson; and brothers-in-law, Edward Soukup, Gary Hayes, George Soukup, and George Berger.


Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years, Irene Peterson of Malone; his children, Kenneth Peterson, Kimberly Seith and her husband Robert, Matthew Peterson and his wife Naomi, and Marshall Peterson; his sisters, Nancy Hayes, Mary Mangrum and her husband Boyd, and Mollie Hatton and her husband Russell; sisters-in-law, Ann Berger and Elleen Soukup; his grandchildren, Amelia Booth and husband Eli, John Peterson, Amber Perez and husband Joe, Ashley Pechacek and husband Adam, Courtney McGuire, Dakota Meadows and husband Thomas, Colton Peterson, Dylan Peterson and wife Ryann, and Paige Peterson; great grandchildren, Madison, Samuel, Cassandra, Abigail, Audrey, Kaden, Ella, Riley, Paeyton, Presley, Parker, Fenton, and one on the way; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


Active pallbearers are Dylan Peterson, John Peterson, Colton Peterson, Jimmy Uptmore, Edward Nors, Brian Berger, Chris Hatton, and Dale Berger. Honorary pallbearers are his granddaughters, the Kelm Brothers, members of the Hill County Farm Bureau, and members of the Malone Volunteer Fire Department.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Malone Volunteer Fire Department or St. Mary's Cemetery Association.
