Matthew Hajek

Matthew Christopher Hajek, age 36, of West, passed away early Saturday morning, June 21, 2025 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident near West. 

A rosary will be recited 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, followed by visitation until 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2025 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery near West. 

Matthew was born January 2, 1989 in West, the son of Charles Hajek Sr. and Vikki Martin. He was a 2007 graduate of West High School, he then received an associate degree in Equine Science from Meredith Manor Equestrian School in Waverly, West Virginia. Matthew was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. Matthew found great fulfillment in his career as an aerial fiber contractor and the owner of MCH Contracting, where he showcased his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to quality work. His life was filled with a multitude of interests including training horses, golfing, fishing, playing pool, and dancing. Most importantly, Matthew was a loving father to his beloved son, Hayes, with whom he cherished every moment.

Matthew is preceded by his father; paternal grandfather, Arnold Hajek Jr.; and uncles, Louis Hajek, Ricky Martin, and Lawrence Girard. 

Survivors include his son, Hayes Matthew Hajek; his mother, Vikki Martin and special friend Phillip Kownatzki; brother, C.J. Hajek; niece, Tensley Hajek; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Hajek; maternal grandmother, Samantha Hudson and husband John; maternal grandfather, Bill Martin; aunts, Louise Girard, Theresa Soukup and husband Henry, and Tracy Smithey and husband Toby; step mother, Charlott Hajek; and many other relatives and friends. 

Active pallbearers are Tommy Girard, Joe Girard, Henry Soukup, Brent Pavlas, Andrew Rieger, Cody Rostockyj, Jason Knust, and Brice Dornak. Honorary pallbearers are Jeremy Prnka, John Beseda, Ethan Martin, Brad Russell, and Clay Snokhous.
