Maria Celia Perez Chavez

Maria Celia Perez Chavez, age 75, of West, passed away Tuesday morning, March 3, 2026 at Ascension Providence Hospital in Waco.

A rosary will be recited 5:00 p.m. Monday at Aderhold Funeral Home, followed by visitation until 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Timothy Vaverek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.

Celia was born on December 4, 1950, in Chalchihuites, Mexico, to Florencio and Florencia (Serrato) Chavez Lopez. She began her early education at Vasdespino Catholic School and carried her learned values throughout her life. On August 1, 1969, she married Jesus Perez-Zaldivar in Mexico, and he lovingly preceded her in death on April 3, 2025. Celia's life was marked by her unwavering commitment to her family. As a dedicated homemaker, she created a warm and nurturing environment that fostered love and togetherness. A proud member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, Celia was deeply connected to her faith. She found joy in various activities, including sewing, knitting, and dancing. Her home cooking and baked goods were the highlight of family gatherings. Celia would light up any room with her spirit, often emerging victorious in friendly card games, which was typical of her playful nature. Family was the cornerstone of Celia's life and she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Celia is also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Lili Perez; brother, Teodolo Chavez; and sister, Alejandrina Chavez.Survivors include her children, David Perez and wife Gracia, Elvia Perez and husband Avelino Villa, Enrique Perez and wife Anamaria Castaneda, Nena Perez and husband Gerardo Valles, Olivia Perez and husband Humberto Sanchez, and Ubaldo Perez; 25 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brothers, Raul Chavez, Samuel Chavez, Rodolfo Chavez, Manuel Chavez, Saul Chavez; sisters, Blasa Chavez, Sofia Chavez, Imelda Chavez, and Ma. de los Angeles Chavez; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are Jesus Perez, Leobardo Villa, Cristobal Perez, Genaro Valles, Rogelio Valles, Juan Perez, Diego Perez, and Osvaldo Perez.

María Celia Pérez Chávez, de 75 años, residente de West, falleció la mañana del martes 3 de marzo de 2026 en el Hospital Ascension Providence de Waco.

Se rezará el rosario a las 17:00 h del lunes en la Funeraria Aderhold, seguido del velatorio hasta las 19:00 h. La misa de entierro cristiano se celebrará a las 11:00 h del martes 10 de marzo de 2026 en la Iglesia Católica de la Asunción de Santa María, oficiada por el reverendo Timothy Vaverek. El entierro se realizará posteriormente en el Cementerio de Santa María.

Celia nació el 4 de diciembre de 1950 en Chalchihuites, México, hija de Florencio y Florencia (Serrato) Chávez López. Inició su educación en la Escuela Católica Vasdespino y conservó los valores aprendidos a lo largo de su vida. El 1 de agosto de 1969, se casó con Jesús Pérez-Zaldívar en México, y él la precedió en la muerte con amor el 3 de abril de 2025. La vida de Celia estuvo marcada por su inquebrantable compromiso con su familia. Como dedicada ama de casa, creó un ambiente cálido y acogedor que fomentaba el amor y la unión. Orgullosa miembro de la Iglesia Católica de Santa María de la Asunción, Celia estaba profundamente conectada con su fe. Encontraba alegría en diversas actividades, como coser, tejer y bailar. Su comida casera y sus reposterías eran el punto culminante de las reuniones familiares. Celia iluminaba cualquier habitación con su espíritu, a menudo saliendo victoriosa en partidas de cartas amistosas, algo típico de su naturaleza juguetona. La familia era la piedra angular de la vida de Celia y le encantaba pasar tiempo con ella, especialmente con sus nietos y bisnietos.

A Celia también le precedieron en la muerte sus padres; su hija, Lili Pérez; su hermano, Teodolo Chávez; y su hermana, Alejandrina Chávez.

Le sobreviven sus hijos, David Pérez y su esposa Gracia, Elvia Pérez y su esposo Avelino Villa, Enrique Pérez y su esposa Anamaría Castañeda, Nena Pérez y su esposo Gerardo Valles, Olivia Pérez y su esposo Humberto Sánchez, y Ubaldo Pérez; 25 nietos; 3 bisnietos; hermanos, Raúl Chávez, Samuel Chávez, Rodolfo Chávez, Manuel Chávez, Saúl Chávez; hermanas, Blasa Chávez, Sofía Chávez, Imelda Chávez y Ma. de los Ángeles Chávez; y muchas sobrinas, sobrinos, otros familiares y amigos.

Los portadores del féretro son Jesús Pérez, Leobardo Villa, Cristóbal Pérez, Genaro Valles, Rogelio Valles, Juan Pérez, Diego Pérez y Osvaldo Pérez.
