Louis J. Nemec

Louis Joseph Nemec, age 86, of West, Texas passed away peacefully late Monday night, March 30, 2026, surrounded by his family at his home.

A rosary will be recited by Deacon Robin Waters at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, April 6, 2026 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Timothy Vaverek and Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrants. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery near West.

Born on May 15, 1939, in Waco, Texas, Louis lived a life marked by his simplicity and his love for talking. He never met a stranger. Louis was raised on the outskirts of West and graduated from West High School in 1959. Louis was the beloved spouse of Luritha Ann Svacek. They were united in marriage on November 6, 1971. Together, they raised five children - Sharon, Karen, James, Shana, and Leslie. His parents were Louis A. and Margaret (Holy) Nemec.

He dedicated many years of his career working in parts at the local Ford dealers in West and Waco. Louis also later worked for Imperial Woodworks. He became well-known for his extensive knowledge of parts, reliability, and willingness to help anyone who walked through the door. He took great pride in his work and was respected by coworkers and customers alike for his honesty and friendly demeanor.

In his free time, Louis found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a lifelong passion for Farmall tractors and could often be found tinkering, restoring, or simply admiring them. He enjoyed listening to polka music. One of his favorite pastimes was caring for his fishpond, handing out popcorn balls on Halloween, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 54 years, Luritha Nemec of West; his children Sharon Vanek and husband Pat, Karen Rogers and husband Michael, James Nemec, Shana Nemec, and Leslie Kroll and husband Jason; his five grandchildren Mason, Brady, Grace, Marlie, and Kara; his brother, Charles Nemec and wife Marsha; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. The family would also like to send special thanks to Kim Rynders for her loving care and support.

Pallbearers are Mason Vanek, Brady Vanek, Henry Polansky, Butch Dujka, Henk Heemels, and Albert John Hornak.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption or a charity of your choice.
