Louis A. Mynarcik, Sr. age 91, of West, passed away late Saturday afternoon, June 17, 2017 at Providence Hospice Place in Waco. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 22, 2017 at St. Marys Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Military Graveside Rites will follow at St. Marys Cemetery, conducted by the West Veterans Honor Guard. Louis was born April 20, 1926 in West, the son of Otillie (Macicek) and Joseph J. Mynarcik Sr. He attended Ross and West schools . Louis served his country in the United States Army, receiving his medical discharge in 1956. He served in the CBI Theatre, traveled the Burma Road, made Sergeant First Class and received three bronze stars. On November 25, 1947 he was united in marriage to Eleanor Hlavenka in West. Eleanor preceded him in death on September 16, 2012. He worked for the William Cameron Company for several years after returning from the military. Louis was a lifelong and faithful member of St. Marys Catholic Church of the Assumption. He was also PTA President of St. Mary's School and Cub Master, a member of the K.J.T. Society #31, Knights of Columbus #2305, American Legion Post #478, a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post #4819, DAV Chapter #215 and Commander Club. Louis enjoyed farming, tending to his cattle, listening to Czech music and singing Czech songs. He also loved hunting and fishing with his relatives and friends. Louis is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Edmund Mynarcik, William "Bill" Mynarcik, Dan Mynarcik and Joseph Mynarcik; sisters, Agnes Zatopek and Victoria Cvikel; and brother-in-law, Bill Hlavenka. Survivors include his children, Ellouise Anderson of West and Louis Mynarcik Jr. and wife Tonja "Sissy" of Lorena; grandchildren, Nathan John Mynarcik and wife Jodi and Raychel Maria Mynarcik; great-grandsons, Kade Joseph and Landon Louis; a sister, Lillie Jane Popp and husband Kenneth; a brother-in-law, Adolph Zatopek; sisters-in-law, Rosemary Mynarcik and Gladys Hlavenka; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Bill Hlavenka, Joey Hlavenka, Nathan Mynarcik, Robert Mynarcik, Michael Mynarcik and David Mynarcik. Honorary pallbearers are his nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Marys Church of the Assumption or to the charity of your choice.
