Chad McHargue

Lionel "Chad" McHargue, age 40, of West, passed away Sunday afternoon, June 1, 2025 at his residence.

A memorial service celebrating Chad's life will be held 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2025 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West. Military rites will be conducted by West Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive visitors from 5:30 p.m. Monday until service time at the funeral home.

Chad was born on October 25, 1984, in Waco, the beloved son of Leonard "Clint" and Theresa (Kimsey) McHargue. A proud 2002 graduate of West High School, Chad went on to attend classes at Texas State Technical College, where he developed a passion for technology and programming. Driven by a strong sense of duty, Chad began his military journey with a year of training in the Army Reserves before enlisting in the United States Navy. He honorably served his country for over six years. During his time in the military, he also coached baseball, combining his love for the sport with his dedication to mentorship.

After his military service, Chad returned home and continued to apply his skills and leadership in civilian life. He managed several local restaurants and rental properties, building lasting relationships and making meaningful contributions to his community. Chad had many passions. He was an avid baseball fan, a lifelong student of history, a very creative and talented artist, and an adventurous traveler. Above all, he cherished time spent with family and friends, leaving behind countless memories of laughter, creativity, and kindness.

Chad is preceded in death by his father, Leonard "Clint" McHargue; a brother, Lenard "Colby" McHargue; his maternal grandparents, Jake Thomas Kimsey, and Elberta Bieler Dehl; and his paternal grandparents, Lionel and Vera Jo McHargue.

Survivors include his mother, Theresa McHargue of West; step father, Kevin Lander; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
