Linda Shelton

March 3, 1946 — June 18, 2025

Linda Sue Shelton, age 79, of Axtell, passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 18, 2025 at her residence.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with David Snipes officiating. Burial will follow at Bold Springs Cemetery near West. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Linda was born on March 3, 1946, in Venus, the daughter of Albert and Georgie Madora (Garner) Richards. She attended schools in Venus and later dedicated over 32 years of her life to the mobile home manufacturing industry, working for esteemed companies such as Patriot Mobile Homes, Centurion Mobile Homes, and U.S. Mobile Homes. Linda also worked for West and Axtell school districts before retiring in 2018. Her contributions to her field were significant, and she was known for her strong work ethic and unwavering dedication to her job. Linda found joy in her faith and family. She enjoyed spending her free time in her yard, nurturing her plants and flowers, and found peace in crocheting. Traveling was another passion of hers, with memories of breathtaking Alaskan cruises that brought her joy. Linda was the rock of her family, whom she cherished spending time with and making memories with. She had an unwavering love for them and she will be dearly missed.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Johnny Gatlin; her daughter, Gala Reed; brothers, William, Albert, James, Charles, and Joe Richards; a sister, Dorothy Watson; her furbaby, Sassy; and many nieces and nephews.

Linda leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion through her family. Survivors include her children, Dwayne Reed and wife Marcie and Vala Allen and special friend, John Miller; her grandchildren, Chesney Willenborg, Devin Allen and wife Elizabeth, Miranda Carpenter and husband Casey, Lexi Gatlin and fiance Colton Sandell, Tristan Gatlin, and Kathryn Reed and fiance Andrew Eberhardt; her great grandchildren, Kelon, Riley, Londyn, Oaklynn, and one more on the way, Kinley; a special sister-in-law, Judy Walters; her life-long best friend, Ana Esparza; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Pallbearers are Devin Allen, Andrew Eberhardt, Tristan Gatlin, Casey Carpenter, Colton Sandell, and John Miller.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.

The family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Rosario, Dr. Hertzog, and all of the nurses and staff of Providence Hospital and Providence Hospice for taking special care of Linda.
