Lillie Mae Nors, age 85, of West, passed away early Tuesday morning, January 20, 2009 at Providence Hospital in Waco. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 11:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Nors was born August 8, 1923 in Penelope, the daughter of Emil and Annie (Marek) Janek. She attended Griffin and Penelope schools and on June 21, 1943 she was united in marriage to Pete P. Nors in Penelope. He preceded her in death on May 18, 2005. They raised their family and lived on the land that her grandfather bought in the late 1800's. Lillie worked for Kredtor Sewing Factory for 10 years until she and her husband Peter, and their son, Richard, opened Nors Bakery in West. Lillie loved cooking, canning, sewing, crocheting, quilting, and gardening, and especially loved her flowers. Lillie was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. She was also a member of the K.J.Z.T. Society No. 11 in West and S.P.J.S.T. Lodge #66 Linden Hall. Her parents; two sons, Richard Nors and David Paul Nors; two brothers, Henry Janek and Emil Janek; and one sister, Regina Adamcik also preceded her in death. Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Harlin and husband James of Aquilla; a daughter-in-law, Sherry Nors of Waco; a sister, Dorothy Hutyra of West; four grandchildren, Lisa Stewart, Steve Harlin, Kimberly Hancock and husband Shane, and Chris Nors and wife Shelly; five great grandchildren, Dusty Stewart, London Stewart, Dylan Hancock, Hunter Harlin, and Macy Hancock; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Steve Harlin, Chris Nors, Shane Hancock, Butch Janek, Clarence Janek, Robert Nors, Mike Hutyra, and Clyde McCray. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Ambulance Association, American Heart Association, or St. Mary's Cemetery.
