Lillian Machovsky

Lillian Machovsky, age 80, of West passed away Saturday morning, July 7, 2007 at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Mrs. Machovsky was born September 16, 1926 in West, the daughter of Will and Theresa (Nors) Karlik. She graduated with honors from Aquilla High School, where she was crowned queen of her school. On May 1, 1944, she was united in marriage to Joe Machovsky in West. Lillian worked as a clerk for Wernet's West Drug and Lorch Manufacturing. She also worked at the Village Bakery until her retirement. She loved gardening, quilting, sewing, and reading. She was an excellent cook, known for her pecan pies, pecan rolls, and noodle soup. Lillian also took care of cleaning the church for several years. She was a member of St. Anne's Altar Society, CDA Court #829, PTC Choir, and taught CCE Classes for many years. Lillian was a lifetime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. She is preceded in death by her parents; grandsons, David Morrow and Joshua Machovsky; and a brother-in-law, Jack Griffin. Survivors include her beloved husband of 63 years, Joe F. Machovsky of West; three sons, Raymond Machovsky and wife Nelda of Spring, Bernard Machovsky of Waco, and James Machovsky and wife Valencia of Palacios; one daughter, Lillian Christensen and husband George of Irving; one brother, Louis Karlik and wife Nancy of Newfoundland, Canada; three sisters, Tracy Matcalf and husband Clarence of Porterville, CA, Marie Griffin of Whitney, and Cecelia Helpert and husband Billy of Woodway; four grandchildren, Brenda Young and husband Ben, Jason Machovsky, Annette Burns and husband Bobby, and Kevin Christensen and wife Mitzi; five great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Pallbearers are Jason Machovsky, Kevin Christensen, Mike Hejl, John Hejl, Joe Albin Karlik, and Joe Skelly. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Parish Center.
