Lillian Annie Bohannan, age 88, of West, passed away Thursday evening, May 14, 2026 at West Rest Haven.
A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Timothy Vaverek as celebrant, assisted by Deacon Robin Waters. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in West. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West.
Lillian was born on September 30, 1937, in Hill County near Cottonwood, to George and Annie (Grellhesl) Hubik. She graduated from West High School in 1956 and carried throughout her life the strong values of faith, family, and hard work that shaped her early years. On January 4, 1958, she was united in marriage to James Bohannan in West. Together they built a loving home and shared many cherished years before James preceded her in death on January 25, 2011. Lillian was a devoted member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, where her faith remained an important part of her daily life. She was also active in the Catholic Daughters of America Court #829, KJZT Society #11, and the Women's ACTS Group, forming many lasting friendships through her service and fellowship. A talented and hardworking woman, Lillian worked as a seamstress for Lorch Manufacturing and later spent more than 15 years with K-Mart. She also enjoyed her time working at Fashion Fabric in West, where her love for sewing and creativity were a natural fit.
Lillian found joy in sewing, tending to her yard and flowers, cooking meals for her family, and spending time visiting with her close friends from K-Mart. She especially loved playing cards with her grandchildren, watching her favorite soap opera and EWTN the Catholic channel, volunteering at West Rest Home, and caring for her beloved cats. More than anything, Lillian treasured time spent with her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her immense pride and happiness, and she created countless memories through her love, kindness, laughter, and caring spirit. She will be remembered for her warm heart, strong faith, and the deep love she shared with everyone around her.
Lillian is also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Debra Smithey; brothers-in-law, Gene Schutza and Rudolph Rejcek; and a great-grandson, Logan Kaluza.
Survivors include her children, Deana Laubert and husband Richard, Dennis Bohannan and wife Debbie, Darron Bohannan, and Dale Bohannan and wife Patti; grandchildren, Sarah Barak, Dillon Smithey and wife Courtney, Brian Laubert, Becky Kudelka and husband Matt, Alan Laubert, Leann Kaluza and husband Nathan, Colby Bohannan and wife Amanda, Julie Manjarrez and husband Esteban, Lindsey Melancon and husband Stephen, Brandon Bohannan and wife Meghann, Justin Bohannan and wife Lisa, Colton Bohannan and wife Melissa, Hayden Bohannan and wife Camyren, and Ty Bohannan; 22 great-grandchildren plus one on the way; brothers, Wesley Hubik and wife Pat, Robert Hubik and wife Kris, Tom Hubik and wife Becky, and George Hubik and wife Kelly; sisters, Margie Schutza and Janie Rejcek; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
