Libbie Ann (Blazek) Veselka, age 76, of West, passed away Saturday afternoon, March 14, 2026 at her residence.
A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 19, 2026 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek and Rev. Timothy Vaverek as celebrants, assisted by Deacon Ronnie Sykora. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel.
Libbie was born on September 17, 1949, in Ennis, the daughter of Elick Charles and Libbie Lillie (Haskovec) Blazek. She was a 1967 graduate of St. John's Catholic School in Ennis. Her journey into the working world began as a secretary in downtown Dallas while she pursued studies at Draughon's Business College. On August 3, 1968, Libbie married her devoted husband, William Raymond "Bill" Veselka, in Ennis. The couple set down roots in West in 1969, where they built their family home in 1973. Libbie's career spanned various roles, from working at Stribling, Woodard, & Gregg Insurance to a dedicated 13-year tenure at West Community Hospital. She also contributed her talents at Frank Andrle C.P.A., Blazek Building Supply, and at Sykora Family Ford. She thrived in jobs that allowed her to connect with the public, making a lasting impact on so many lives in her community. Libbie's faith and commitment to service were evident throughout her life. A devoted member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, she actively participated by serving as a Lector, singing in the St. Cecilia Choir, and being a member of the Finance Council. She also played an integral role in the Catholic Daughters of America Court #829, KJZT St. Ludmilla's Society #11, as well as the KJT Society #31. Her extensive contributions included serving as a Director and Associate Director for Westfest for many years. Libbie's spirit came alive through her passions of dancing, sewing, painting, cooking, baking, and making candy. She also found joy in arts and crafts and treasured time spent with family, whether it was hosting picnics, roasting wieners by the tank, or supporting her sons and grandchildren in their sports and activities. With Bill always by her side, they enjoyed working tirelessly at various concessions and fundraisers.
Libbie is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Kenneth Blazek and infant, Charles Blazek; niece, Jennifer Hornik; nephew, Andy Blazek; sister-in-law, Betty Kent and husband Richard; and brothers-in-law, Donnie Veselka and Delbert Bailey.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 57 years, Bill Veselka; sons, Mark Veselka and Curt Veselka and his wife Tina; her grandchildren, Alex Veselka, Caitlin Veselka, Gabby Kaska and husband Nolan, Sierra Veselka, and MaKayla Veselka; two brothers, Robert Blazek and wife Polly, and Greg Blazek and wife DeAnna; sisters, Barbara Hornik and husband David, Elsie Slovak and husband Joe, Judy Hornik and husband Richard, Irene Harlan and husband Brian, and Emily Longfellow and husband Dan; her sisters-in-law, Jo Blazek, Eileen Thomas, Dorothy Ann Moore, and Barbara Luther; a Godson, Dale Sykora; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Active pallbearers are Jeremy Veselka, Jeff Veselka, Dennis Kent, Brian Winarick, Thomas Slovak, and Dale Hornik. Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Catholic Daughters of America Court #829, KJZT Society #11, or KJT Society #31.
