Leona Pustejovsky Taylor

Leona Pustejovsky Taylor, age 93, of West, passed away Monday, September 15, 2014 at Town Hall Estates in Hillsboro. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 18, 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Paul Hudson as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home. Leona was born October 11, 1920 in Abbott, the daughter of Louis A. and Julia (Kallus) Hykel. She attended schools in Abbott. On October 3, 1938 Leona was united in marriage to Albin J. Pustejovsky in West. Albin preceded her in death on February 8, 1957. She was then united in marriage to Frederick "Sandy" Taylor on August 8, 1957 in Waco. Sandy also preceded her in death on February 7, 2010. Leona was a homemaker for most of her life and also worked for Gulf Oil Company in West for a number of years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. She was also a member of K.J.Z.T. Society and the West V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. Leona enjoyed sewing, baking, canning, fishing, and going camping in the R.V. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Leona is also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, L.A. Hykel; two sisters, Clara Nors and Helen Pustejovsky; a great grandson, Nathan Spinks; and a son-in-law, Gary Winters. Survivors include four sons, Albin Pustejovsky and wife Carol of Malakoff, Roger Pustejovsky and wife Debbie of Mertens, Leon Pustejovsky and wife Peggy of West and Fred Taylor of West; a daughter, Joan (Pustejovsky) Winters of Napa, CA; a sister, Judy Ridlehuber; grandchildren, Thomas Winters, Monica Nagy and husband Brian, Cynthia May and husband Keith, Angie Spinks and husband Jonathan, Mary Barnes and husband Mark, A.J. Pustejovsky, Brandie Smith and husband Devin, Tracie Griffin and husband Brad, Jeff Pustejovsky and wife Amanda, Tyson Taylor and wife Nikki, Derek Taylor and Brent Taylor; 22 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are all of her grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Rest Haven Disaster Relief Fund or to the charity of your choice.
