Lanet Klanika

Aug 11, 1949 — Sep 12, 2026

Heaven just gained a big new smile. Lanet Jan Klanika was born on August 11, 1949, in Hillsboro, Texas. She passed away peacefully on September 12, 2026, at West Rest Haven, surrounded by her family, at the age of 77.

Visitation will be held at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in West, with Dr. John Crowder officiating. Lanet will be laid to rest at Gerald Cemetery located at 3782 Bode Road, Elm Mott, Texas. Her life and legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.

A dedicated member of her community, Lanet retired from her long-standing role as a paraprofessional and school bus driver for 39 years with the Penelope Independent School District, her alma mater, where she touched the lives of many students and families. Lanet was known for her loving smile, playing 42, working outside, and cooking. She cherished gatherings with her cousins and close friends, Ann and Judy, and talking on the phone for hours with her lifelong friend, Anna Esparza. Family vacations were a particular highlight, as she enjoyed special trips with her daughter, Donna, and family, and with her niece, Ashley. She took great joy in watching her granddaughters, Mackenzie and Maddie, as well as her four great-nephews, Justyn, Kasen, Luke, and Macklin, play sports, always cheering them on with pride. Lanet treasured every moment spent with her great-granddaughter Caroline, her great-grandson Hayden, and was especially delighted to see and hold her new great-granddaughter, Leighton, whom she affectionately referred to as her "baby girl."

Lanet was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dwight Klanika; parents, Adolph and Elna Lander; sister, Doris Pond; three brothers, Kenneth Lander, Kermit Lander, and Elvis Lander; sisters-in-law, Trudy Klanika, Pamela Aycock, and Helen Klanika; brothers-in law, Charlie Klanika, Jody Klanika, Melvin Klanika, and Walter Pond; step-mother, Mary Lander; and mother-in-law, Christine Klanika.

Lanet is survived by her daughter, Donna Honea and husband Brandon; her granddaughters, Mackenzie Adams and husband Colton, Maddie Honea and boyfriend Kade Klaus; her grandson, Coleton Honea and wife Hayleigh; great granddaughters, Caroline Honea and Leighton Adams; great grandson, Hayden Honea; sister-in-law, Linda Carter; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends. She will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends for her unwavering spirit, love for life, and the joyful moments she created with those she cared about.

Active pallbearers are Lanet's nephews, Doug Lander, Kevin Lander, Jacob Lander, John Carlile, Troy Klanika, Norman Klanika, Gary Klanika, and Freddie Klanika. Honorary pallbearers are Justyn Carlile, Kasen Carlile, Luke Carlile, and Macklin Carlile.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Baylor Scott & White Hospice Care and West Rest Haven for the incredible care, support, and kindness during this difficult process. We are so grateful for the work you do every day.
