Jutta Ellen Kuehne, age 91, of Hillsboro, passed away early Friday morning, July 31, 2026 at her residence.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Jutta was born July 27, 1935, in Hanau, Germany, the daughter of Walter and Hermione Greiner. She spent her formative years in Germany, graduating from Hanau High School before starting a new chapter in her life. In 1953, she married Joe Silva, with whom she shared many happy years until his passing in 1987. In 1988, she found love again and married Orlan Kuehne, who would go on to bring her joy until he preceded her in death in 2017. Jutta embraced life in Texas, where she ran the family farm near West. She was a vibrant member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Gerald. She put her green thumb to work as a master gardener and enjoyed sharing her passion for cooking, particularly her beloved German recipes, with family and friends. Whether she was crocheting, knitting, solving sudoku puzzles, dancing, or enjoying a good margarita, Jutta lived life to the fullest and made the most of every moment.
Jutta is also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jerry Silva; and a daughter, Doris Mitchell.
Survivors include her children, Barbara Dawkins and husband Richard Jr. of Hillsboro, Harry Joe Silva and wife Jackie of Oshkosh, WI, Rose Riddle of Grandview, and a stepson, Jarrott Kuehne of Elm Mott; her grandchildren, Jason Knust, Justin Knust, Adam Knust, Kyle Knust, Ben Smith, Scott Smith, and Samuel Mitchell; her great grandchildren, Kaspar, Helen, and Miley Knust; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hill County Paw Pals.
