Joyce (Harkins) Beaubien, age 94, of West, passed away Saturday afternoon, April 25, 2026, at Brookdale Lake Brazos Assisted Living in Waco.
Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Dr. John Crowder officiating. Graveside service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Axtell Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Joyce was born on February 4, 1932, in Axtell, the daughter of James and Bertha (Moore) Harkins. She graduated from Axtell High School in 1949 and continued her education at Mary Hardin-Baylor University, Northern Michigan University, and McLennan Community College. On June 9, 1951, she was united in marriage to William "Bill" Beaubien in San Angelo. Bill preceded her in death on August 9, 2006. Joyce was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in West. She dedicated many years of service as a medical secretary for the United States Air Force and the Doris Miller Veterans Administration Hospital in Waco, and later worked for the Austin Social Security office before retiring in 1991. In her retirement, she remained active, working for the Marble Falls WalMart Pharmacy, and several area businesses including West Egg Products, the Village Shoppe, and Marak-Gerik Appliance. Joyce found joy in life's simple pleasures like gardening, listening to music, dancing, and especially writing poetry. Her talent was recognized with a publication in the National Social Security Magazine. Above all, she cherished her family, holding a special love for her children and grandchildren.
Joyce is also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Gary Beaubien; brother, James Harkins; and sister, Ginger Lawson.
Survivors include a son, William "Alan" Beaubien and wife Susan of Ingleside; grandchildren, Amie Krueger and husband Karsten, and Christopher Garcia; a sister, Linda Templeton; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family would like to send a special thank you to Joyce's nieces, Lisa Kiphen and Jill Schulte, for loving and taking care of her over the years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Axtell Cemetery Association.
