John Ash

August 24, 1953 — September 15, 2025

John Ash, age, 72 of Waco, passed away peacefully, Septemeber 15th, 2025, at Medical City Hospital Dallas.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 19th, 2025, at Aderhold Funeral Home in West, Texas, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Johnny was born August 24th, 1953, in Waco, Texas, to Nuburn Ash and Winona Spurlock. Johnnny was a true wheeler and dealer, a man who never let an eighth-grade education define his limits. He had a gift for people and a talent for business. He owned and operated many establishments that became staples of the community: the South Gate Oyster Bar, Misty's, Ash's Cocktails, Ash Auto Sales, Texas Beverage, Ash Properties, Ash's Cocktails Bar and Grill, and County Line Grocery.

But John wasn't just a businessman; he was a man who poured his time, heart, and energy into his community. He served with pride in the Lacy Lakeview Chamber of Commerce, the West Masonic Lodge where he served as Worshipful Master, and also the Karem Shrine. He was a Colonel of the Motor Patrol and loved nothing more than a ride on his trike with friends by his side.

He was married to Rosa Juanita Morales for 32 years. They shared love for their daughter, Misty Lynn, whom kept them lifelong friends. John found the greatest joy in becoming "Papaw." In 2014, he welcomed his first grandchild, Kylie-"Baby K"-and in 2016, his grandson Kingston George, who became his "main man." They were his whole world, and he was their number one fan.

John is survived by his daughter, Misty Lynn Ash of Corpus Christi; father of his grandchildren, Chris Kuhn of Corpus Christi; grandchildren, Kylie, Kingston, Chris, Sheril and Ashton; his brother, Joe Ash and wife Ronda of Waco; and his half-sister, Shelley Berry. He had a close bond with his cousins, Kim Linex, Sharon Long, Rose Schwarting, La Juan Cameron, Aimee Long, Billy Wayne Ash, Betty Sue Arnold, and Gary and Susan Geldmeier. He is preceded in death by his parents, and the love of his life, Rosa.

John's life was proof that success is not measured by degrees or titles but by the lives we touch, the joy we spread, and the communities we build. He was a storyteller, a cook, a businessman, a Shriner, a Mason, a father, a grandfather, and a friend. Most of all, he was unforgettable.

The family wishes to give special gratitude and thanks for support and care from Kim Linex, Aubrey Gerik, Rose Schwarting, Ricky Grones, Kaye Biela, Andrea Roberson, and life time employee Miguel Gonzales.
