John Roessler

August 18, 1935 — September 17, 2025

John Anton Roessler, age 90, of Leroy, passed away Wednesday morning, September 17, 2025 at his residence.

A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Monday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m.Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours, with Rev. Will Straten and Rev. Walter Dhanwar and as celebrant, assisted by Deacon Charlie Wright. Burial will follow at St. Martin's Cemetery, with military honors by West Veteran's Honor Guard.

John was born on August 18, 1935, in Tours, the son of John and Clara (Straten) Roessler and lived a life filled with love, service, and dedication. He was a proud 1953 graduate of West High School and went on to serve his country in the United States Army until his discharge in 1956, achieving the rank of Private First Class. On June 24, 1961, he married the love of his life, Alma Lena Greger, in Westphalia, and together they created a beautiful family and a legacy of love.
John was a long-time member of St. Martin Catholic Church in Tours, where he actively served his faith and community as a member of the church council, the St. Martin Cemetery Association Board, the Leroy-Tours-Gerald Water Board, and served on the Texas Farm Bureau Board. His dedication to his faith and community was recognized when he received the esteemed Lumen Gentium Award from the Bishop of the Diocese of Austin, an achievement he held dear to his heart. As a lifelong farmer, John embodied hard work and resilience, often accompanied by his joy for simple pleasures, which included fishing with his boys, gardening, and dancing to Polkas and Waltzes.

John is preceded in death by his parents; son, David Roessler; grandson, Kevin Dudik; sisters, Mary Podsednik, Odilie Gerik, and Annie Schroeder; and brothers, Henry Roessler and Herman Roessler.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 64 years, Alma Lena Roessler of Leroy; his children, Clara Dudik and husband Albert of Penelope, Rose Dudik and husband Emil Joe of Hubbard, Kathy Butler and husband Timothy of Robinson, Billy Roessler and wife Angela of Gainesville, and Mary Withers of Leroy; grandchildren, Martin & Whitney Dudik, Adam & Kelly Dudik, Angela Dudik and fiance Justin Huse, Emil Dudik IV and fiance Katie MItcham, Janet & Raymond Smith Jr., Michael Dudik, Michelle & Brady Ramsey, Justin & Misty Dudik, Brian & Taryn Dudik, Sarah Butler, David & Virginia Butler, James Butler, Faith Butler, Kailey Roessler, Amanda Roessler, Savannah Roessler, Denton Roessler, Joshua Withers, Emma & Jordan Coblentz, and Ashley Withers; 31 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Pallbearers are his grandsons, Martin, Adam, Emil IV, Michael, Justin, Brian, David, James, Joshua, and Denton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Martin's Church.
