Joe Hardwick

November 24, 1951 — March 5, 2026

Joe Randall Hardwick, age 74, of New Braunfels, formerly of Elm Mott, passed away March 5, 2026 surrounded by his family.

A Memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2026 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Jeff Hardwick officiating.

Joe was born on November 24, 1951, in Waco to Richard Owen and Janell (Willis) Hardwick. He grew up in Elm Mott where he developed the work ethic and curiosity that would shape the rest of his life. Joe graduated from Connally High School in 1970. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, completing two years of active duty and four years in the reserves. Being a Marine remained an important part of his identity throughout his life. In 1973, Joe began his career with Purvis Industries, where he worked for nearly 53 years. Over the decades, he served in numerous roles including Vice President of Operations and Technical Support Engineer. Joe was widely known and deeply respected in the power distribution industry for his technical expertise and problem-solving ability. If there was a challenging engineering problem, he was the person to call. It was also at Purvis Industries where he met Cyndy, who would become his wife of 45 years. Outside of work, Joe had a passion for cooking, which was his love language. He was famous for his enchilada casserole, his beef stew (inspired by a local restaurant, Sulak's), and ranchero salsa at family gatherings. He also loved cars and racing and enjoyed spending time helping his son and daughter work on their vehicles. Joe had a natural gift for fixing things and solving problems-whether mechanical, technical, or practical. Above all, Joe was incredibly proud of his family. He loved following along his grandchildren's activities like soccer games and taekwondo events. He also enjoyed exploring new and local restaurants and was always ready with a great recommendation.

Joe was preceded in death by his father, Richard Owen Hardwick; his mother, Janell Willis Hardwick; and his brother, Mark Hardwick.

He is survived by his wife, Cyndy Harkins Hardwick; his daughter, Darin Hardwick Morrison and her husband Leonard; his son, Jonathan Richard Hardwick and his wife Chelsia; his beloved grandchildren, Maelynn Grace and Bennett Suyin Hardwick; his brothers, Mike Hardwick and Jeff Hardwick and his wife Darla; a sister-in-law, Debbie Hardwick; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Joe will be remembered for his steady presence, his brilliant mind, his generous spirit, and the deep love he had for his family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. ❤️
