Janice "Jan" (Huffman) Willis, age 81, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon, June 22, 2025 in Waco.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. and a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 26, 2025 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Rick Pinner officiating. A private family burial will follow at Osage Cemetery near Oglesby.
Born on November 9, 1943, in Gatesville, Texas, Jan was the only daughter of Logan and Anna Pearl (Gatlin) Huffman and grew up surrounded by the love of her family while being heavily involved in rodeos and rodeo activities. She attended Lorena schools where she met her life-long best friend, Geraldine (Keys) Walker in grade school. Jan was highly involved during high school - she participated in cheerleading, earned the titles of Miss LHS and Homecoming Queen, and graduated in 1962.
Jan married Dan Willis June 21, 1962 and together they share 3 children, 7 grandchildren, and 3 great-granddaughters (who affectionately called her "Gran-Jan"). She and Dan were blessed to be able to travel throughout the United States with Dan's rodeo career and made many friends and life-long memories.
Jan loved the Lord and her family above all else. She enjoyed Bible studies with friends and was always involved in children's Vacation Bible Schools and school parties while her kids were in grade school. Jan loved to entertain. She could cook anything from scratch and it didn't matter what time, day or night, when someone would show up they would have a place at her table and a warm meal. She was famous for her tacos, homemade enchiladas, and chicken-fried "anything", always served with mashed potatoes and gravy; not to be forgotten, her special brownies made in the boot skillet. Jan loved clothes, high heels, jewelry, make-up, and big hair. She was always the classiest and best dressed woman anywhere she went. She loved to travel and shop and to shop and travel.
Jan is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Harlan Huffman; and a son-in-law, Jimmy Oglesby.
Survivors include her son Bob Willis, his wife Lisa, grandsons, Casey and Brady; daughter Missy Cammack-McCartney, her husband Gary, granddaughters, Macy, Madison, and Molly, great-granddaughters, Logan, Chandler, and Alice; her daughter Becky Oglesby, granddaughters Shelby and Kashley; best friend, Geraldine Walker and her family; brother Gary Huffman; sisters-in-law Hope Huffman, Delfa Willis, and Marilyn Storm; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Craig Huffman, Kevin Huffman, Tom Willis, Pat Cammack, Kyle Skipper, Kevin Walker, and John Golden.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to her loyal friends Edna and Kay, her favorite hairdresser and friend Honey, and the wonderful staff at Wesley Woods and Bluebonnet Hospice.
