Fred Vestal Stephens, age 72, of West, passed away peacefully in his sleep early Friday morning, November 7, 2014 at his residence after a brief battle with cancer. As per Fred's wishes, no services will be held. Fred was born August 10, 1942 in Sherman, the son of Fred and Dorothy Sue (Biggerstaff) Stephens. On July 3, 1975, he was united in marriage to Shelia Parks in Sherman. Fred or Vestal as he was known, was a life-long handyman, a custom metal fabricator and Class A machinist. After retiring in 2004, from Raytheon, Fred and Sheila moved from Denison to West, where he began work at The Green Door. Fred is preceded in death by his parents. Fred Vestal leaves behind his loving wife of 42 years, Shelia Stephens of West to cherish his memories with a brother, James Ray and wife Margaret Stephens of Denison; a son, Fred A. and Becky Stephens of Denison and their children, Christy and husband Keith Hutson and their child, DeAnn and husband Brian Roberson and their two children, and Nicholas and wife Mary Kirby and their child; two daughters, Catherine and husband Dave Streater of McKinney and their children, Jeremy Watson and his two children, Jordan Watson, Jarrett Hall and Erik Hall, Lisa Huffhines and her two sons, Major Huffhines and Jett Huffhines, all of West; brothers-in-law, R.D. Parks, Ralph Parks, Doug Parks and Mike Parks, many close and special friends, including Alex Salinas; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. As all things live, shall all things pass, those of us fortunate enough to have known him shall never forget. In loving memory of Fred Vestal Stephens.
