Father Vincent Chacko, a devoted Catholic priest and missionary, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2025, in Kerala, India, at the age of 73.
Born on May 13, 1952, in Thannirmukkom, Kerala, India, he was the beloved son of Chacko and Annamma Vaipisheril. One of eight children, Father Vincent and his sister, Jyothi Maria, both answered the call to religious life.
From a young age, Father Vincent felt a deep calling to serve God and others. After graduating from St. Matthew’s High School in 1967, he joined the Indian Missionary Society and completed four years of Minor Seminary training, where he immersed himself in language studies and religious formation.
In June 1972, he began his Major Seminary studies at the Pontifical Institute of Philosophy and Religion, focusing on philosophy, theology, and pastoral ministry. He was ordained to the priesthood on May 9, 1980, and began his ministry in the Diocese of Sindhudurg in Maharashtra, India.
Father Vincent devoted the first 20 years of his 44-year priesthood to missionary work in the northern states of India, serving underserved communities with faith and compassion. During this time, he had the extraordinary blessing of meeting Saint Mother Teresa.
Later, Father Vincent brought his ministry to the United States, where he continued to serve with the same fervent dedication. He worked in parishes, served as a hospital chaplain, and offered spiritual guidance to many. His pastoral appointments in the U.S. included:

Funeral services will be held in Kerala, India. The funeral service will be on Monday, June 2, at 2:00 PM, with Holy Mass at St Xavier’s Knanaya Catholic Church. A live Funeral broadcast will be available at HTTPS://Knanayapathram.com.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 31st, at 11:00 AM at Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church in Katy, Texas.
