Evelyn Sulak

Evelyn Carolyn (Lenart) Sulak, age 98, of Waxahachie, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.

A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Darrell Kostiha as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, followed by a meal at St. Joseph's Hall.

Born on September 12, 1926, in West, Texas, to Ernest "Ed" and Louise "Lucy" (Jansky) Lenart, Evelyn lived a life defined by resilience, generosity, and devotion to the people she loved. As a child, she worked on the farm with her family picking cotton. She attended St. Mary's Catholic School and later West High School. Evelyn later met Leo Sulak at a dance hall and they married November 20, 1946. Together they had a family and moved throughout Texas, beginning in Ft. Worth to Houston, Granbury, and finally settled in Waxahachie. Evelyn and Leo were strong in faith attending their local catholic church. Evelyn poured her heart into her family and her kitchen blessing countless friends and neighbors with her legendary homemade kolaches and famous pickles that could brighten any day. Her home was always a place of welcome, warmth, and laughter. She spent many days in her garden because she said it was never work, but always peaceful.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sons, Leo Sulak Jr. and Eddie Ray Sulak; her brothers, Raymond Lenart and Edward Lenart; and her daughter-in-law, Kristi Sulak.

She is survived by her children, John Sulak and spouse Donna of Ft. Worth, Calvin Sulak and wife Roann of Waxahachie, and Sharon Massey of Waxahachie; grandchildren, Melody Miller and husband Jay, Calvin Sulak Jr. and wife Pam, Mindy Thomas and husband Tom, Jamie Thorpe, Steven Massey and wife Amanda, Jeanie Helpenstell and husband Scott, Teresa Sulak, Jennifer Sulak, Denaze Springer, Stephanie Prince and husband Jason, Tiffany Allison and husband Ryan, Caleb Anderson, Clinton Sulak-Tovar and husband Joey, Clayton Sulak, and Destinee Farmer and husband Jay; 31 great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are Calvin Sulak Jr, Steven Massey, Clinton Sulak-Tovar, Clayton Sulak, Scott Helpenstell, Ryan Allison, Jason Prince, and Jay Farmer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Cemetery Association.
