Gene Sulak

Eugene Joseph "Gene" Sulak, age 96, of Rogers Hill near West, passed away Tuesday afternoon, November 11, 2025 at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Hospital in Waco.

Graveside Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 14, 2025 at Gholson Cemetery, with Rev Randy Bell officiating. The family will receive visitors from 9:30 until service time Friday at the cemetery.

Gene was born May 13, 1929 in West, the son of Frank and Mary (Grellhesl) Sulak. On July 10, 1949 he was united in marriage to Norma Cammack in West. Norma preceded him in death on July 2, 2008. . Gene was a machinist for The Perry Company in Waco for over 25 years before retiring in 1991. He enjoyed fishing, working outdoors, riding his airboat on the river and was known as "Mr. Fix It", he could repair anything.

Gene is also preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Debra Gifford; and brothers, Alfred, Alvin, and Harry Sulak.

Survivors include a daughter, Gail Herbelin and husband Benny of Waco; grandchildren, Mark Gifford and wife Leigh, Brad Herbelin and wife Sara, and Brent Herbelin and wife Amber; his great grandchildren, Brayden Herbelin, Kayler Herbelin, Cade Herbelin, and Cole Herbelin; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Pallbearers are Mark Gifford, Brad Herbelin, Brent Herbelin, Brayden Herbelin, Kayler Herbelin, Cade Herbelin, and Cole Herbelin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gholson Cemetery Association.
