Ervin John Laubert, age 88, of West, passed away Saturday afternoon, April 25, 2026 at his residence in West.
A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 4, 2026 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek and Rev. Timothy Vaverek as celebrants, assisted by Deacon Ronnie Sykora. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery near West. The family will receive visitors from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West.
Born on March 29, 1938, in Tours, Ervin was the son of Peter and Josephine (Niekamp) Laubert. He spent his formative years in Tours and West, where he cultivated a love for his community and family. After proudly serving in the United States Air Force during the Cuban Missile Crisis, Ervin continued his commitment to his country in the Reserves until his honorable discharge in 1966. On May 19, 1962, he married the love of his life, Geraldine Kolar, in West. Their enduring partnership was a testament to true love and companionship. A longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, Ervin actively contributed to his faith community through his involvement in the St. Cecilia's Choir, St. Anne's Altar Society and serving as a extraordinary minister for church, praying and bringing communion to the sick. He was also a member and past president of KJT Society #31, West Fraternal Auditorium, and the over 40 Dance Club. Ervin served as secretary and treasurer for the RVOS in West for many years and was a member of the American Legion Post #478. Adding to his community involvement, Ervin was also a valued volunteer for Westfest and delivered Meals On Wheels for many years. Ervin worked as a production supervisor for Tymco, Inc. in Waco from 1971 until his retirement in April 2021. Throughout his career, he exemplified a strong work ethic, also having worked for General Dynamics, on the family farm, building chain link fences, and serving as a surveyor for Lake Waco. Outside of work, he found joy in gardening, maintaining his yard, going for walks, and enjoying the dance floor. Known for his warmth and generosity, Ervin especially cherished his time spent with family.
Ervin is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Herman Laubert, Lawrence Laubert, Edmond Laubert, Joseph Laubert, and Alvin Laubert; and sisters, Angeline Henkleman, Emma Brown and Sister Ann Bernadette Laubert.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 63 years, Geraldine Laubert of West; daughters, Deborah "Debbie" Johnson and husband Victor Damm of Cedar Park, and Teresa Porter and husband Eric of Bluffton, SC; grandchildren, Jonathan Johnson, Megan Porter, Peter Johnson and wife Jessica, Erica Porter, Joseph Porter, and Mathew Porter; great-grandchildren, Emersyn and Riley Johnson; sister, Josephine King; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Clerical Endowment Fund or the charity of your choice.
