Emil J. Hutyra

Emil J. "Hoot" Hutyra, age 82, of Tours, passed away early Wednesday morning, May 21, 2008 at West Rest Haven. A rosary will be recited 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday at St. Martin's Catholic Church of Tours, with Rev. Isidore Rozycki as celebrant. Military Graveside Rites will follow at St. Martin's Cemetery, conducted by West V.F.W. Post No. 4819. Mr. Hutyra was born February 6, 1926 in Nixon, the son of Emil C. and Frances (Pavlica) Hutyra. He attended St. Mary's School and graduated from West High School in 1944. He served his country with the United States Army Air Corp during World War II, where he was a radar operator on a B-17 and B-29 in the Southwest Pacific. Emil was discharged at the rank of Master Sergeant and also served over 20 years with the Air Force Reserves. On July 20, 1950 he was united in marriage to Marilyn Grimm in Tours. Emil was the owner of Hoot's Radio & TV in West from 1953 until his retirement in 1988. He was a longtime member of St. Martin's Catholic Church of Tours. He was also a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post No. 4819 where he served as a past commander, American Legion Post No. 478, K.J.T. Society No. 31, and the Knights of Columbus Council Nol. 2305. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Raymond Hutyra and Henry Hutyra; a sister, Mary Ann Wachel; and a granddaughter, Emily Rose Hutyra. Survivors include his beloved wife of 57 years, Marilyn Grimm Hutyra of Tours; seven sons, Jerry Hutyra and wife Jessica of Waco, Tom Hutyra and wife Janice of West, Anthony Hutyra of Plano, Charles Hutyra of Tours, Johnny Hutyra and wife Lisa of West, Richard Hutyra and wife Felisha of Woodway, and Matthew Hutyra and wife Amy of Ennis; four daughters, Mary Rose Schwartz and husband Gene of Keller, Theresa Polansky and husband Charles of West, Ruth Ann Hutyra of Spring, and Phyliss Teasdale and husband Brad of Montgomery; a brother, Roy Hutyra and wife Doris of West, three sisters, Ida Drozd of West, Dorothy Podsednik and husband John of Houston, and Evelyn Whitner of Owensville, Missouri; a brother-in-law, Joe Edd Grimm and wife Annie of West; a sister-in-law, Martha Altus and husband Tommy of Arlington; 23 grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Pallbearers are his grandsons, Eric Polansky, Brandon Polansky, Stephen Hutyra, Michael Schwartz, Landus Hutyra, and Brian Hutyra. Honorary pallbearers are all other grandchildren and step grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Martin's Church, the Leroy Fire Department, or the charity of your choice.
