Edward James Nesrsta, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, was born on June 9, 1957, in Hillsboro, the son of Edwin and Doris (Gerik) Nesrsta. He passed away unexpectedly on May 16, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and hard work.

A rosary will be recited 5:00 p.m. Monday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott, followed by visitation until 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, with Bishop Daniel Garcia, Rev. Kyle Nesrsta, Rev. Stephen Nesrsta, and Rev. Thomas Jones as celebrants. Burial will follow at Fatima Cemetery near Abbott.

Edward grew up in Abbott, where he graduated from Abbott High School in 1975. He continued his education at Hill College, earning an associate degree in Business Management, and also attended Texas A&M. His strong work ethic and passion for the beverage industry led him to a fulfilling career as a Category Manager at Glazer's Beer and Beverage Company, where he devoted 45 years of service before retiring in 2024. A member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott, Edward actively participated in community service and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2305. He found joy in simple pleasures, mowing the lawn, deer hunting, playing golf, and most importantly, spending cherished moments with his family. Edward's love for his children and grandchildren shaped his life, enabling him to create lasting memories that will continue to warm their hearts.

Edward is preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law, Daniel Petter; and a sister-in-law, Joyce Nesrsta.

Survivors include his children, Kory Martin and wife Kaylen, Rev. Kyle Nesrsta, and Jillian Nesrsta; his grandchildren, Alora Martin, Chase Martin, Skye Martin, Justice Martin, and Emery Kirks; the mother of his children, Julie Nesrsta; a sister, Evelyn Petter; brothers, Larry Nesrsta and Rev. Stephen Nesrsta; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Active pallbearers David Kofnovec, Al Petter, Bill Butler, Greg Cockrell, David Walker, Larry Marek, Chad Gilstrap, Calvin Gerik, and Steve Gilmore.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Abbott Volunteer Fire Department or Fatima Cemetery Association.
