Edda was born April 13, 1942 in Waco, the daughter of Russell Lehmann and Lois (Landrum) Lehmann Zahirniak. She was a 1961 graduate of University High School and then pursued her education at Durham Business College both in Waco. On October 23, 1961, she was united in marriage to her husband, Johnnie Kolar, in West. Edda was a long-time member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, where she valued her faith and community. Her career as a cloth cutter was extensive, working at many sewing factories, including Kolar's Contract Cutting, where she dedicated 34 years of hard work before retiring in 1997. Following her retirement, she and her daughter, Debbie, co-owned and operated the West Parkway Daycare and Learning Center for 23 wonderful years, nurturing and guiding countless children within the West community. Edda will be remembered for her adventurous heart. She was known for her love of deer hunting, fishing, and dancing. She also could often be heard singing karaoke, especially singing along with James "Slim" Hand. Edda took great pride in her involvement with the community, notably assisting with search and rescue efforts during the devastating West explosion in 2013.
Edda is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Richard Lehmann; sisters, Betty Huffert, Janell Matus, and Dorothie Gabbert; a step father, Harry Zahirniak; nieces, Sharri Huffert and Joy Gail Gabbert; and a nephew, Russell Lenee Gabbert.
