Deborah Ruth "Debbie" Hanzlicek, age 69, of Penelope, passed away Tuesday morning, March 24, 2026 at her residence.
A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2026 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Penelope, with Rev. Thomas Jones as celebrant, assisted by Deacon Denver Crawley. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery near West.
Debbie was born February 21, 1957, in Warwick, Rhode Island, the daughter of Andrew and Betsey (Barton) Perra. She was a 1975 graduate of Toll Gate High School in Warwick, RH. In a beautiful union of love, Debbie married her cherished husband, Johnny Hanzlicek, on May 26, 1984 in Penelope, Texas. Their journey together began in Carrollton, TX where they nurtured their family and created countless memories. Her professional life saw her excel in quality control and inspections for Texas Instruments/Raytheon Defense Group in Dallas. Following Johnny's retirement from Texas Instruments Defense Group and Raytheon in 2015, they returned to the family farm in Penelope, TX embracing the peaceful life they had always cherished. Debbie was a devoted member of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, where her faith flourished alongside her community involvement. She was a proud member of the McLennan/Hill Czech Heritage Society and the Catholic Daughters of America Court #829. It was her role as a homemaker and caretaker that defined her spirit. Debbie's heart was always full, whether she was quilting, crocheting, or creating beautiful pottery, making floral arrangements, and crafts that brought joy to others. Her greatest pride was her family. A dedicated mother, Debbie served as a den mother for her son's Boy Scouts troop, tirelessly attended her children's sports events, and cherished their performances in school bands and orchestras. She was a kind and loving woman who was always eager to lend a helping hand. She had a magical ability to light up the room with her kindness, making those around her feel special and loved.
Debbie is preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Jessica Hanzlicek; an infant son, Jason Hanzlicek; and parents-in-law, Johnny and Pauline Hanzlicek.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 41 years, Johnny Hanzlicek of Penelope; a son, Jeremy Hanzlicek and wife Heather of Wylie; her grandchildren, Colton Hanzlicek, Jax Mock, Isiah Mock, Maci Mock, and Melissa Mock; brothers, Andrew "Ben" Perra and wife Tonia, Bruce Perra and wife Barbara, and Stephen Perra and wife Patricia; a sister, Victoria Rosenberg and husband Jim; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Active pallbearers are Andrew Grmela, A.J. Grmela, John Bazhaw, Robert Kahanek Jr., Auther Dudik, and Chris Johnson. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Preston and Bobby Ball.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
