David Wayne Kallus, age 72, of Abbott, passed away Thursday morning, June 25, 2026 at his residence.
A rosary will be recited 5:00 p.m. Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with visitation to follow until 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2026 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott, with Rev. Thomas Jones as celebrant. Burial will follow at Fatima Cemetery.
David was born on September 10, 1953, in Hillsboro, the son of the late Albin and Josephine (Marek) Kallus. David was raised in Abbott, where he cultivated not only his love for the land but the values of hard work and dedication that defined his life. A graduate of Abbott High School, he went on to earn an Associate's Degree in Applied Arts from Hill Junior College in Hillsboro in 1974. As a lifelong farmer, David found joy building and repairing essential farm equipment, which showcased both his creativity and skills. As well, he enjoyed welding, working on his trucks, combining, stripping cotton, and taking are of his many pets through the years. He was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the KJT Society #31.
Survivors include his sister, Susan Kallus; an aunt, Kathy Marek; and many cousins and friends.
Active pallbearers are Kenneth Kolar, Larry Marek, Gregory Marek, Michael Marek, Edwin Hejl, and Anthony Vybiral. Honorary pallbearers are Ronnie Skerik and John Daniel Kaska.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church or the Abbott Volunteer Fire Department.
