David Doty

David Jean Doty, age 37, of Waco, passed away early Wednesday morning, September 23, 2026 at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple.

Private memorial services will be held at a later date.

David was born February 10, 1989 the son of Janet (Doty) Garzone. He enlisted in the United States Army on March 26, 2008, and served honorably, completing tours of duty in Iraq and Kuwait. He was discharged as a Sergeant on November 10, 2016, having earned numerous medals and commendations, including the Good Conduct Medal and accolades for his service in the Global War on Terrorism. After his discharge, David continued to inspire others by working as a recruiter for the Army in Waco. Beyond his military achievements, David was a man of simple pleasures. He found joy fishing and swimming at the lake, and he cherished riding horses. Most importantly, he deeply loved spending time with his daughter, Skylar

David is preceded in death by his step-father, Kevin Lawson; great grandparents, Slim and Charlene Yocom.

Survivors include his mother Janet Garzone and husband Patrick; children, Matthew Cardinal, Skylar Doty, Wyatt Doty, and Weston Doty; a sister, Crystal Brown; niece and nephew, Nevaeh Brooks and Kaevin Ambrose; his grandparents, Tom and Peggy Buzbee and Marilyn Williams; his uncle, Daniel Doty; his aunt, Tamara Jupe and her husband Chase; and many other relatives and friends.
