Clara Wachsmann

October 24, 1940 — November 9, 2025

It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of Clara "Nell" Wachsmann, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. Born on October 24, 1940, to the late Vernon and Clara Olevia Grier in West, Texas, Clara left us to join them on the other side, where she will undoubtedly brighten their days as she did ours.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 17, 2025 at the Tokio Baptist Church near West, with Rev. Terry McElrath officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Grove Cemetery near Aquilla. The family will receive visitors from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Aderhold Funeral Home.

Clara is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, William "Bill" Wachsmann, a sister-in-law, Judy Grier of West, as well as her dedicated sons, Mitchell Wachsmann and fiance Robin Thorp of West, Danny Wachsmann and wife Kathryn of Idaho, and Casey Wachsmann and wife Ashley of West, and many nieces and nephews. She was a devoted grandmother to Krystal, CJ, James, Alyssa, Erika, Elizabeth and Wyatt Wachsmann and a Great-Grandmother to Trystin and Autumn Orler-Bingham, Gracelynn Marsh, and Nevaeh Villarruel-Wachsmann, who will forever miss her comforting presence and many laughs and hugs. Clara was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Clara Olevia Grier, a brother, Dock Grier, and many aunts and uncles whom she often spoke of with fond memories.

Clara had a personality that was effectively contagious, lighting up any room she entered. Described as passionate and funny, Clara was loved by everyone and a Nanny to all, with the good fortune of knowing her. Many will fondly remember her with a Diet Coke in her hand, tuning into an episode of her favorite TV show, The Golden Girls, or passionately discussing her love for her dear husband Bill and many memories of her friends and family.

She was an avid gardener and cook in her early days, finding peace and solace in the quiet moments spent amongst herself in her garden and kitchen. She mostly cherished her time with her grand and great grandchildren, who were her pride and joy in life, attending many band concerts and sporting events in her years with us.

In closing, we celebrate the life of Clara Wachsmann, a woman who lived her life to the fullest, loving her family with all her heart, and leaving a lasting impression on those lucky enough to have shared a part of their lives with her. We invite all those whose lives she touched to remember Clara in the way they best see fit, and to honor her by living their lives with the same passion and joy that she displayed every day.

Pallbearers are Derek Maler, Daniel Maler, Cody Harris, Lane Grier, Keith Henson, and Matt Vrana.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tokio Baptist Church.
