Charlie Sykora

Charlie Sykora, age 84, of Waco, passed away Wednesday night, June 7, 2023 at Wesley Woods Care Center in Woodway.

Graveside Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2023 at St. Mary's Cemetery in West, with Rev. Timothy Vaverek officiating.

Charlie was born June 23, 1938 in Waco, the son of Charlie and Mary (Pavelka) Sykora. He was a 1956 graduate of Midway High School. On January 2, 1971 he was united in marriage to Mary Moran in Waco. Mary preceded him in death this year, on January 8, 2023. Charlie proudly served his country in the United States Army. He and Mary were members of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waco. Charlie worked for the Waco Tribune Herald and the United States Post Office for many years before retiring in 2000. He was the epitome of a hard worker, and was a patient, quiet, soft-spoken man. Charlie could work on and repair just about anything and welcomed the opportunity to teach and share his knowledge. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved spending time with his family.

Charlie is also preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Henry Sykora, Jody Sykora, and Frank Sykora.

Survivors include his sons, Scott Sykora and wife Tonya of Mertens, and Matt Sykora of Bruceville; grandchildren, Scott and Kashley Sykora, Shane and Jennifer Sykora, Joseph and Cheyanne Sullivan, Seth Sykora, Brock Sykora, Addison Sykora, and Avery Sykora; great-grandchildren, Kaden, Laken, and Huxten Sullivan; brothers, George Sykora and wife Cindy, and Daniel Sykora and wife TammyRae; sisters, Evelyn Sedivy, and Mary Ann Vance and husband Ike; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
