Charlie Edward Fillip, age 80, of Waco, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior early Sunday morning, October 25, 2026 at his residence.
Visitation will be held at Aderhold Funeral Home in West on Thursday, October 29, 2026 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Charlie was born November 11, 1945 in Penelope, the son of Henry and Dollie Fillip (Warren). He attended schools in Waco. Charlie served in the United States Army from October 1965 to October 1967. Following honorable discharge from the United States Army, Charlie pursued a career as a brick mason for 46 years. On February 14, 1969, he was united in marriage to Mary Fillip in Waco.
Charlie found his greatest joy in the simple yet most meaningful moments of life: spending time with his family, enjoying the outdoors, cooking for those he loved, hosting holiday gatherings, and sharing a dance with the love of his life, Mary. He had a heart of gold, a welcoming spirit, and a warmth that made everyone feel like family. Charlie truly never met a stranger; he had a special way of making connections with others and leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Above all else, Charlie's greatest pride and deepest love were his wife, children, and grandchildren. His family was the center of his world, and he embraced the roles of husband, father, and grandfather with unwavering love, devotion, and a heart full of compassion. He understood that family life came with its share of challenges, mistakes, and difficult moments, but he never allowed those hardships to overshadow the love he carried for the people closest to him. Instead, he faced life's ups and downs with grace, understanding, and a willingness to keep showing up for those he loved.
Charlie believed in the importance of second chances, the value of learning from life's experiences, and the power of standing by the people who matter most. Even through life's hardest lessons, he never turned his back on his family. He offered guidance when it was needed, shared his wisdom through the lessons life had taught him, and led with a heart that always made room for forgiveness, growth, and love. The lessons he passed down, the memories he created, and the love he poured into his family will continue to live on through the generations that follow.
Charlie's legacy is one of love, resilience, generosity, and family. He will be remembered not only for the moments he shared, the laughter he brought, and the traditions he created, but for the way he loved so deeply and remained devoted to those who meant the most to him. His presence will be missed beyond measure, but the love he gave, the wisdom he shared, and the memories he leaves behind will forever remain in the hearts of his beloved Mary, his children, his grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Charlie was proceeded in death by his parents; brother, Eddie Fillip; and granddaughter, Jessica Rae Thames.
Survivors include his children, Cindy Curton, Joey Fillip, and Jarrod Fillip and wife Michelle; brother, Franky Fillip and wife Scherry; sisters, Shirley Alexander and Mary Jiminez; his grandchildren, Gerald Allen Miller and wife Jessica, Wesley Curton and wife Connie, Kourtney Crawley and husband Johnathan, Whitney Connally and husband Tyler, and Hailey Fillip; his great grandchildren, Cheyenne, Holden, Chloe, Emma, Ellie, Braxton, Raeya, and Joseph; his great-great grandchild, Miles; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
