Catherine Frances "Kay" Polansky, age 93, of San Antonio, formerly of West, passed away Tuesday evening, June 17, 2025 at the Estates at Shavano Park Assisted Living Facility in San Antonio.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 27, 2025 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery near West. The family will receive visitors from 9:00 a.m. until service time, Friday at the funeral home.
Catherine was born March 14, 1932 in West, the daughter of Adolph and Christine (Mechell) Pustejovsky. She attended various schools around Texas and graduated from West High School in 1949. On February 20, 1950 she was united in marriage to Alphonse "Al" Polansky at St. Mary's Church in West. They were married for 72 years before Alphonse passed in December 2022. When first married, they lived in Waco, San Antonio, Dayton, OH, and Miami, FL. They returned to San Antonio and settled there. Catherine was a faithful member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in San Antonio. In addition to her role as wife, mother, and grandmother, Catherine worked in sewing factories, as a beautician, and for many years making dresses for the Fiesta San Antonio parades and Royal Courts. She was a tireless volunteer working with Parent Teacher organizations, the Camelot Neighborhood Association, Neighborhood Watch, and the Walzem Road Area Revitalization Council. Catherine enjoyed crafts of all kinds, collectibles, and researching family genealogy. She loved traveling all over the US and visiting the Czech Republic, Germany, and Austria. Catherine especially loved spending time with her family. A special joy to her was visiting her brother Tony at his beach house.
Catherine is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Anton "Tony" Pustejovsky; and husband, Al Polansky.
Survivors include three sons, Gary Polansky and wife Marcia of Albuquerque, NM, Dale Polansky and wife Jennifer of Duncanville, and Alan Polansky and wife Cathy of Creston, IL; her grandchildren, Caitlyn, Kara, Krista, Alton, and Sydney; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your local hospice or any veterans organization.
