Bill Melton

December 11, 1950 — July 4, 2025

Billy Quinton "Bill" Melton, age 74, of Gholson, passed away Friday afternoon, July 4, 2025 at Baylor Scott and White Hillcrest in Waco.

Memorial Graveside Service will be held, along with his wife, Ann McCartney, 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at Gholson Cemetery, with Rev. James Stevens officiating. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West.

Bill was born on December 11, 1950, in Ballinger, Texas, the son of Quinton and Joy (Duggins) Melton. He attended Bangs High School, where he laid the foundation for a life characterized by hard work and dedication. He spent over 40 years as a welder, contributing his skills to several Waco area businesses, including a notable decade at Security Products. He also served as a security officer for Brinks Security. In 2005, Bill found the love of his life Ann (Jones) McCartney at Linden Hall in Elm Mott. They could be seen at all the dances with their matching shirts dancing the night away. They were always called "The Love Birds". On January 30, 2010, Bill was united in marriage to Ann in Waco. Bill always said when she passed away he was going to be right behind her. God answered his prayers and Ann preceded him in death just days before him on July 1, 2025. Bill was a member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, where his faith guided him throughout his life. He cherished the simple joys of life, often found fishing, dancing, and reveling in the beauty of the great outdoors. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, and was fiercely devoted to his wife.

Bill is also preceded in death by his parents and a step daughter, Elizabeth "Liz" Rich.

Survivors include his step son, Allen McCartney and wife Stacy of Gholson; his son-in-law, Jimmy Rich of Gholson; his grandchildren, Alysha McCartney, Amanda Straten and husband Nick, Michael Trammell and his wife D'Lynn, Holli McDow and husband Tim, Jason Rich and wife Clare; great grandchildren, Mallory Trammell, Emily Rich, Hannah Rich, Alex McDow and wife Jaelyn, Adam McDow, Levi Straten, and Rylee Straten; great great grandchildren, Presley and Jayme McDow ; a brother, Jimmy "James" Melton and wife Letty; her sisters, Sharon Kramer and Michelle Kaveshan; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
