Betty Jo Scott, age 88, of West, passed away late Monday afternoon, September 15, 2025 at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Hospital in Waco.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 19, 2025 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Dr. John Crowder officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Grove Cemetery near Aquilla. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Betty was born March 4, 1937, in Norman, Arkansas, the daughter of Loyd and Lila (Warren) Vines. A proud 1955 graduate of Norman High School, Betty excelled on the basketball court, showcasing her competitive spirit and dedication. She cherished her early years as a member of the Norman Presbyterian Church, where she formed lifelong friendships and built a strong foundation of faith. On May 1, 1957, Betty celebrated a beautiful union with her husband, Calvin "Bob" Scott, in West. Together, they nurtured a loving family. Betty's unwavering support for her children led her to be a caring presence at every sporting event, performance, and school function, embodying the essence of a devoted mother. Professionally, Betty served as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, a role she enjoyed long into her career before finding joy working at the Little Czech Bakery in West. Her love for her community and her work was evident to all who met her. Beyond her professional life, Betty found solace and joy in gardening, sewing, canning, and cooking. These passions allowed her to create beautiful moments at home, where she frequently hosted family gatherings filled with laughter and love.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Lois Cogburn; and brothers, Leon and James "Jimmy" Vines.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 68 years, Bob Scott of West; her children, David Scott and wife Annette of West, Richard Scott and wife Pam of Norman, AR, and Karen Pustejovsky and husband Paul of Bryan; her grandchildren, Lindsey Breshears and husband Doug, Kelsey Scott and boyfriend Tyler, Jesse Scott and wife Kyleigh, Ashley Bailey and Nathan, Lotosha McKamie and James, John Pustejovsky, and Kristin Pustejovsky and fiance Stephen; her great grandchildren, Colton and Hannah Breshears, Holt Hamilton, Eli Bailey, Truett Scott, and Cheyenne and Sierra McKamie; sisters-in-law, Vonda and Pam Vines; nieces, Sonya Jones, Kim Bell, and Stephanie Lindsey; and many other relatives and friends.
Active pallbearers are Mike Vines, Greg Vines, Chris Vines, Jesse Scott, Travis Scott, and Scott Kapczynski. Honorary pallbearers are John Michael Pustejovsky, Richard Vines, Stacy Vines, Tim Scott, Truett Scott, Matt McGee, and Stephen Holecek.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Rest Haven.
