Bertha was born November 25, 1925 in Cistern, the daughter of Joe and Martha (Quitta) Otahal. She attended schools in Cistern and Flatonia. Throughout her life, Bertha exemplified strength, warmth, and a love for family that left an indelible mark on all who knew her. On September 5, 1949, Bertha became a beloved wife when she married Ernest "Bo" Psencik in Smithville. Their union was filled with deep love and mutual respect until Bo's passing on June 7, 2003. Together, they built a family that thrived in the spirit of togetherness and gratitude. A lifelong member of the Catholic faith, Bertha's dedication to her community shone brightly as she actively participated in St. Mary's Church of the Assumption in West and previously at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Hillsboro. Her faith guided her as she taught religion classes and celebrated the love of God within her family. Bertha was known for her nourishing spirit, and her kitchen was often filled with the delightful aromas of her cooking, cherished by her family. She also enjoyed sewing and crocheting, creating beautiful pieces, such as Christmas tree skirts and baby booties that will forever encapsulate the warmth of her hands.
