Anton "Tony" Stacha, Jr., age 88, passed away Monday morning, September 29, 2025 in Bryan, Texas surrounded by his family and those who loved and cared for him while living at Crestview Skilled Nursing Home. Tony lived in West for 37 years and considered West, Texas his home.
A Rosary will be led at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at Aderhold Funeral Chapel in West with visitation following until 4:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1:30 p.m., Monday, October 6, 2025 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant, assisted by Deacon Ronnie Sykora and Deacon Robin Waters. He will be laid to rest at St. Mary's Cemetery in West and military graveside rites will follow conducted by West Veteran's Honor Guard.
Tony was born on the Stacha homeplace in Bosque County near Coon Creek. His parents were Anton and Annie Konvicka Stacha. He grew up on the family farm where he raised cattle, produced crops and became an outdoorsman. He married the love of his life, Wanda Faye Kucera in 1962 and celebrated 62 years of a blessed marriage.
Tony was a faithful member of St. Mary's Church in West where he served as an usher, member of the Parish Advisory Board and the Parish Center Building Committee. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Msgr. George Doskocil Assembly #2391, Knights of Columbus #2305, County Line Aggies Club, Czech Heritage Society of Texas McLennan Hill Chapter and served on the ACTS Retreat.
Tony graduated from Clifton High School in 1955 where he participated in football, track, band, FFA and was voted Mr. Clifton High of 1955. He then attended Texas A&M and was in the class of 1959. He was commissioned and participated in the Corp of Cadets and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture as an entomologist. After graduation, Tony served in the U.S. Army as a 2/Lt. with the 714th Preventative Medicine Unit at Fort Stewart, Georgia and Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. After his service in the Army, he began his career with Geigy Agricultural Chemical Division, which is now Sygenta Crop Protection, for 32 years in sales. After his retirement, he enjoyed farming, ranching, fishing, hunting, watching the Texas A&M and Dallas Cowboys football games, and spending time with family.
His family was very special to him, and he enjoyed cooking his famous barbeque and steaks when they visited. Most of all, Tony enjoyed time with his children and grandchildren at the farms when they fished and hunted. He also loved to play 42 dominoes, spinners and card games. He was proud of his Czech heritage and loved to dance polkas and waltzes. His most cherished memory was when the entire family went on an Alaskan Cruise to celebrate their 50th Anniversary.
He will be greatly missed and remembered for his caring, compassionate and loving traits, and his generosity helping others in need.
Tony was preceded in death by his father, mother, and an infant brother.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Wanda Kucera Stacha of Bryan; children, Denise Ann Beakey and husband Andrew III, Debra Arabia and husband Vincent, and Brian Stacha and wife Adria; his grandchildren and great grandchildren, Andrew Beakey IV and wife Taylor, Austin Arabia, Ashley Haynes and husband Will, Addison Arabia, Mitchell Stacha, Garrett Stacha, Evelyn Beakey and Campbell Beakey; his brothers, Raimund Stacha and wife Carrie, and Will Stacha and wife Cecilia; brothers-in-law, Charles Kucera and wife Elizabeth, Roger Kucera and wife Vee, and Dennis Kucera; sister-in-law, Debbie Kucera; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Active pallbearers are Austin Arabia, Andrew Beakey IV, Mitchell Stacha, Garrett Stacha, Will Haynes, Stephen Stacha and Troy Stacha. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Maguire and 4th Degree Knights.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Mary's Catholic Church Clerical Endowment Fund, Texas A & M County Line Aggies Club Scholarship Fund or the charity of your choice.
