Obituary

Anton Franklin Peterson, age 90, of Mesquite, formerly of West, passed away Wednesday afternoon, November 19, 2025 at Dallas Regional Medical Center in Mesquite.

A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Timothy Vaverek as celebrant. Military Graveside Rites will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, conducted by the West Veteran's Honor Guard.

Anton was born on August 21, 1935, in West, the son of Richard and Victoria (Svoboda) Peterson. He graduated from West High School and exemplified patriotism by proudly serving in the United States Army during the Korean War. On August 10, 1957, Anton married the love of his life, Albertine Cernosek, in Penelope. Their union was a testament to love and companionship, until her passing on January 23, 2022. Anton was a devoted member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Dallas and contributed to his community as a member of KJT Society #111 in Dallas, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4819 in West, and the Dallas Fraternal Order of Eagles Post #3108. For many years, Anton worked as a mechanical technician, building transmitters at Continental Electronics in Dallas. His commitment to hard work extended beyond his profession, as he also contributed his time and energy in the livestock area for the State Fair of Texas. Anton cherished moments spent fishing, woodworking, and enjoyed sitting under his shed with a cold drink in his hand. He and Albertine traveled far and wide, creating beautiful memories in Greece, Saipan, Nova Scotia, and England. Yet, he held a special fondness for the River Walk in San Antonio and the joyful dances at the Czech Halls, where he spent quality time with family and very good friends. His greatest pride and joy was time with his family and loved ones.

Anton is also preceded in death by his parents and sister, Dorothy Christian.

Survivors include his children, Anthony Peterson and wife Teresa of Forney, Linda Peterson of Denton, Patricia "Renee" Ramsey and husband Michael of Allen, and Shawn Peterson and wife Dawn of McKinney; his grandchildren, Jeff Peterson and fiance Gabrielle, Misti Wheat and husband Wesley, Lisa Peterson, Donnie Darouse, Ethan Darouse, Chase Peterson, Allison Ramsey, and Dylan Scott; his great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Indy Wheat; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
